‘Tora Carey’ Sea Turtle Design

Description

This serigraphy sea turtle shirt is made in Costa Rica with 100% cotton material, natural colored. Being 100% cotton guarantees no microplastics will remain at sea. The ink used to print over the shirts is oil-based. The shirt was made in collaboration with the amazing Costarican artist and entrepreneur Eduardo Rojas of Asequir. The turtle “Tora Carey” belongs to the Indo-Pacific population of the Chelonia mydas species and undertakes long trans-Pacific migrations. Because of its color, reminiscent of the hawksbill turtle, it differs from the endemic to the Eastern Pacific Black Turtle, and only a few places are known where both populations occur. Sea turtles are in danger of extinction due to the poaching of their eggs, unsustainable fishing, and the destruction of their habitats. Equipo Tora Carey, which was named after the high abundance of this population around Punta Descartes, studies and protects the habitat of sea turtles together with the local community to achieve the sustainable development of our marine resources.
