This 925 Sterling Silver and Nacre ring resembles the Chocolate Chip Sea Star (Nidorellia armata) found on the rocky reefs that surround Punta Descartes. There are two color variations to choose from, gold and calming nacre, which are the same that are found in the natural environment.

Description
This starfish ring is made of 925 Sterling Silver and Nacre, which is the inner shell produced by many mollusks. Its design is inspired by the Chocolate Chip Sea Star (Nidorellia armata), which is commonly found in and around the rocky reefs that surround Punta Descartes. Because of the Nacre’s natural color variation, some are lighter than others and that is why we offer two options for you to choose from: gold and calming nacre.
Sea stars are carnivore organisms, as they feed on mollusks, worms, algae, seagrass, plankton, other invertebrates, and even each other! But that is not the most interesting part about their feeding habits… to eat their prey, they force out their digestive organs from their stomach and absorb it.
Another fun fact about sea stars is their regenerative powers. When a sea star loses one or more of their arms, it can regenerate the entire limb and some species are even capable of regrowing their central disk. Sea stars are considered keystone species in coastal marine ecosystems, as they control the abundance of mussels and appear to regulate microorganisms by mixing up the organic matter and therein provide different substrates for other species to develop on.
By purchasing this starfish ring, or any other of our ocean and beach-related jewelry, you can choose to support one of Equipo Tora Carey’s conservation projects, and as we grow, hopefully, the introduction of new projects on other key species, including the chocolate chip sea star. Also, if you ever want to visit the site and learn more about the projects, make sure to contact us or Equipo Tora Carey and schedule your visit!
