This humpback whale necklace design is made of 925 Sterling Silver. It stands for the excitement that we live every year in Costa Rica when humpbacks visit us all around the coastline ?!

The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is one of the larger baleen whales and distributed in all oceans worldwide, with different populations occupying specific geographical areas during their feeding and breeding grounds.

Punta Descartes is one of the few places in the world, where populations of different origin aggregate: from December – March, the shier humpback whales from Canada migrate here to calf in the shallows bays (like Santa Elena in Santa Rosa National Park and Salinas Bay).

From August – October, we receive the more displaying humpbacks from the South Pole at a distance of 9.000km, undertaking one of the longest migrations of all whales to give birth to their calves here in North-West Costa Rica. These months are also the best suited for whale watching, but make sure to decide for responsible (silent) transportation, such as our sailing boat partners from Noa Noa Surfari or Surfari del Mar.
