Surgeon Fish Ring
$45.00
Description
This surgeon fish ring is made of 925 Sterling Silver and the design is inspired by the Convict Surgeonfish (Acanthurus triostegus).
Surgeonfish, such as the sergeant fish, the barber fish, the yellowfin and the back surgeonfish are common inhabitants of all coral and rocky reefs along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
Surgeonfish are herbivores, feeding largely on green and brown algae, which means they are an important algae proliferation regulator and help to maintain the reefs healthy.
Surgeonfish have their name from the scalpel-like spine they possess on the side of their bodies, just ahead of the tail, which they can lash out to defend themselves from predators.
By purchasing this surgeon fish ring, you can choose to support any of Equipo Tora Carey’s conservation projects, and as we grow, hopefully, the introduction of new projects on other key species. Also, if you ever want to visit the site and learn more about the projects, make sure to contact us or Equipo Tora Carey and schedule your visit!
